SIET Membership Pathways

Membership Grades

In accordance with SIET’s Constitution and Bye-laws since its founding in 1980, the following grades of membership are offered:

• Honorary Fellows (Hon FSIET): Persons of distinguished position on having scientific attainments and elected by the Executive Council and consented to become Members of the Institute.
• Fellows (FSIET): Distinguished leaders and senior professionals who have made significant contributions to engineering; have at least 5 years in a senior position of responsibility in engineering, or of equivalent standing, and have satisfied the Council that they are worthy of election as Fellows.
• Members (MSIET): Qualified professionals actively engaged in engineering and technology practice; with at least 5 years’ experience in engineering or related course, including 2 years practical training or site works, and 3 years involving responsibility connected with design, research, construction, production, engineering and IT related works.
• Associate Members (AMSIET): Emerging professionals and graduates beginning their career journey; with at least 3 years’ experience in engineering and IT-related executive positions.
• Associates (Assoc. SIET): For students aspiring to build their future in engineering and technology; persons qualified in allied science, arts or professions whose association with the Institute considered by the Executive Council as conducive to the general advancement of special techniques or engineering knowledge.
